HOMESTEAD, Fla. (WFLA) — Justin Allgaier looks to follow up on his Xfinity win in Las Vegas as he sits on top of the championship standings. But Connor Zilisch will be another driver to look for at a track he seems to like.
"Homestead, I got to race there last year so, going to a place I know," Zilisch said.
Zilisch finished 12th at homestead last October. The junior motorsports driver gained five positions in the standings in Vegas last week and looks to continue the climb this weekend.
For NASCAR, Josh Barry is looking for another good weekend in Homestead after his win in Vegas.
"I love homestead," Barry said. "Honestly I had a really solid race last year in the 4 car. So, I expect more of the same."
One of Nascar's hottest drivers right now is Chris Bell, who said Homestead comes at a crucial part of the season, and it's a track he likes.
"It is the most unique mile-and-a-half on the calendar because the straightaway is, it's the only mile and a half that is a true oval and it is very, very slippery," Bell said.
Denny Hamlin said it's that part of Homestead that he likes.
"It's got a lot of characteristics that make it difficult, and makes it challenging and I always feel like, the more challenging the racetrack, the more I can let my talent shine," he said.
One other hot item to keep an eye on this week is a huge brush fire that has now burned more than 3,000 acres near the track, closing off the A1A roadway that leads to the Florida Keys. However, it is not expected to be a factor for drivers this weekend.
Homestead is a favorite track for many drivers and maybe the race action.
